Equally important as her performing and teaching work, Sara is a devoted advocate for social justice, specifically for women’s rights, for survivors of gender based and sexual violence, and for access to arts education.

A 2024-2025 Public Voices Fellow of the OpEd Project and Equality Now on Advancing the Rights of Women and Girls, Sara has written and spoken publicly about the impacts of sexual and gender based violence on individuals, communities and the world. She has also spoken as an expert by lived experience for Futures Without Violence’s live panel "Leave from Work for Survivors of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking," offering a comprehensive overview of the employment laws that support survivors needing time off.

Sara is also a seasoned communications and external relations strategist specializing in advocacy, nonprofits, and political campaigns. She has worked both in-house and as a consultant on political campaigns at the national, state and local levels, overseeing and executing multifaceted campaigns from PR to digital and influencer strategy.

Currently, Sara is spearheading external relations for Broader Than Broadway, a new nonprofit cofounded by Chryssie Whitehead and Alexis Carra Girbés bringing performing arts education and skills to youth and adolescents in under resourced communities.
